In a field of roses…she is a wildflower.

You know how in Moana, she sings about the wind and the sea calling out to her?

If you haven’t seen this Disney movie, please watch it TONIGHT. It’s cute, even for adults.

Well, I feel that sense of being called in my own heart. I have been hearing God calling out to me and asking me to be brave, to not fear, to have courage, to be bold for a month or so now.

The same few verses continue to show up randomly in my life, over and over.

Isaiah 40:31

but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 41:10

fear thou not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

I have also been in 3-4 different conversations lately with other entrepreneurs and creatives, discussing taking risks in their brands, dreams, and passions. I started asking myself, what risks am I taking? I couldn’t think of any. Actually I know I have been playing my dreams pretty safely. Safe feels good and well…safe.

But like Moana, I feel this calling to step out into a new adventure…to take risks.

It’s such a pressing on my heart that I am saying “Jesus it’s a big ol’ YES!!! Where is this road taking us?!”

With flowers in my hair, Jesus on my mind, and a verse in my heart I trust fall into the Lord’s will and into His purpose.

What does all this mean?

It means I am going to be actively seeking the Lord and what He wants me to be specifically doing in my life. (Im thinking my writing has a lot to do with this.)

It means being bold in my faith and making sure that anyone who comes across SHE LIVES VINTAGE knows that the word VINTAGE in my name means living for the most vintage thing out there and that’s the Lord.

It means I am going to keep doing what I passionately love and let God handle the rest.

It means not being afraid of taking risks. If it doesn’t work, then okay but I have got to start doing things to my fullest potential.

It means not being scared to be my quirky self that our Heavenly Father takes so much delight in.

It’s choosing prayer and scripture over anxiety and “what if”.

It means I let God lead me in my life’s waltz…not the easiest thing for me to do.

It means that I will agree to the truth that God wants good things for me. He is ALWAYS good.

It means I just keep telling Jesus YES, daily.

To help me keep on track and focused, I started a new devotional called 100 Days To Brave by Annie Downs.

If there’s anything that I’d like you, my sweet reader, to take away from this post it’s that you’re one of a kind and that’s incredibly important. When we let fear and doubt consume us, we dim our lights to stay in a safe place. Jesus wants our light to be like a beacon. BRIGHT. ATTENTION GRABBING. Let’s be bold and SHINE. Your light is unique and will attract certain people that other’s lights may not be able to. Let’s live and be courageous, CHASING AFTER THOSE DREAMS AND TELLING JESUS “YES YES YES!”

You’re without rival and more importantly, GOD IS AWESOME, and He has got you!!!

They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

    What a coincidence! I was just watching Moana because my son loves to sing that song. HAHA, cute right? Anyways, I’ve taken several risks in my life and I believe that there are reasons for it and what God has in store for me. Your posts about faith are truly testing me right now with my current situation. There is a reason to why I subscribed and by taking that step it is telling me to have more faith in Him and to trust. Thank you and I’ll check out the book. Lent is coming soon and I need to do some reflection. =)
