Writers Style: Second Book … Different Process

Happy Wednesday Sweet Friends.

In April 2017 my devotional got published on Amazon.

It was such a sweet moment, holding my book for the first time. Starting out, I knew so little about writing a book and learned so much from going through the process.

This second time around, as I sit down to start writing my second book, it’s completely different and in a way I feel like such a newbie. Clueless even. My first book was a 31 day devotional and I self-published. This time, I am tackling writing a non-fiction book (think 55,000 + words) and I’m going to try to get it traditionally published. (eek!)

I have a story to tell and I have been thinking about this for some time. I have no idea what God wants to do with it but I just know I feel prompted to write it. So thats where Im starting, just being obedient to the pressing I feel inside to get it out on paper…or computer screen. 😉

When I was writing my devotional, I outlined the 31 days by topics and then prayed, wrote, re-wrote, and re-wrote (again) each devotional. The editing process wasn’t too bad but it definitely didn’t feel as daunting as it does now…just starting out this second time.

My focus with this book is to get the first 3 chapters written, write my proposal, PRAY A LOT, and send it off to see if any agents are interested.

I’m just going to do my part and let God do the rest, if it’s even in His will to do so.

I love when people share their behind the scenes and so I thought it’d be fun to let you into my small writing world. I’ll keep you updated. 😉

I’m so excited to hear that you’re writing a new book! I purchased your devotional a few months back when I discovered your blog. It has been so encouraging to me. So many times the Lord used your words to strengthen me and restore my faith in His plan for me.

Whether you go indie or traditional with this book…I’ll be buying it! =)
