3 Favorite THRIFT STORE Tips + Tricks

I LOVE CLOTHES.

I love clothes and I love to get new clothes without spending a ton of money.

ENTER THE MAGIC OF THRIFT + 2ND HAND CLOTHING STORES.

Why pay $50-100 on a new black date night dress when you could find one for $10.99 or less?

Even Target and Old Navy can be a little pricey in comparison to what you could get by shopping second hand.

I love this dress but I spent over $30 on it.

Below are THREE dresses that I bought second-hand that equaled up to less money than I spent on the ONE dress shown above.

Wouldn’t you rather have 3 dresses, instead of one?

There are of course exceptions where I think spending more money on a nicer dress or blazer is totally appropriate but for the most part, I’ll be doing 90% of my shopping at thrift stores. I do not buy bras, panties, or swim suits second hand. BUY THOSE NEW.

HERE ARE 3 OF MY FAVORITE THRIFT STORE TIPS + TRICKS.

  1. GO TO THE STORES LOCATED IN THE NICER AREAS OF YOUR TOWN OR NEARBY CITIES. Great stores like Platos Closet or independent second hand clothing stores are AMAZING for finding higher end brands for super cheap prices, ESPECIALLY when those stores are located near areas where the rich folk live. 😉 I am not one of these people and so travel I will.
  2. ASK ABOUT THE DISCOUNTS AND PROMOTION DAYS. At some popular thrift stores around the country, they’ll have days where everything in the store is 50% off. Save your shopping for those days. Your dress just went from being $6 to $3. You’ll get so much more for your money.
  3. TAKE YOUR TIME. I’ve had friends tell me they don’t know how I find such cute pieces at Good Wills or at Salvation Armies. The secret is that you have to go through the racks and look at the clothing. I go right to my size and look through each and every item. There are so many hidden gems in those racks. SEARCH THEM OUT.

EASY PEASY.

HAPPY THRIFTING.

Love this! I really like shopping at good will and thrift stores- it just takes time! I need to plan days that I can go and really look for items! Thanks for the suggestions! Hope you have an awesome Friday!

You wear them well ! I like the pictures. I admire women who seem to enjoy fashion (and therefore- shopping, I would conclude), but…… I actually turned my entire master-bedroom closet over to my husband……. I own jeans, tops, one nice skirt that I enjoy, and a few special occasion outfits, and not many shoes. Anyway all that to lead in to what you would understand maybe based on what I shared. I don’t have the patience for thrift store clothes shopping (I am a specialty size TALL, anyway) but I really get a kick out of thrift store shopping for crystal as gifts, and kitchen utensils and gadgets. I think it’s great that you are encouraging women to thrift store shop!
